Smoke, for comparison purposes, is a smoke of ‘hookah essence’ in the literal sense of the word, smoke that is not dark or dirty (characteristic of the birch).
The chocolate is bitter and dark, with a buttery texture, which I believe corroborates the “honeycomb” texture present in this opening.
It’s a very linear perfume. If you like it at the beginning, you will like it until the end.
As it goes to drying, dark chocolate and rum lose strength, honey and smoke are still there, but now, imagine that they are making a honey syrup with peach and adding a little cinnamon powder. A warm syrup, syrupy, but fruity and also acidic.
There are several green/herbal notes, including tobacco itself. You can feel mate, hay, licorice [which brings a souvenir of tea]. The herbal and green notes intensify the feeling of ‘tobacco’.
Demachy’s idea here was to create a perfume based on pipe tobacco, intensifying the natural herbal and fruity facets of tobacco. In this way, there are fruity, herbal, tobacco, syrupy notes present in the tobacco absolute itself, in small quantities.
It is a cheerful and festive perfume, but at the same time, exoteric and also mysterious.
