Inspired by CHANEL – CHANEL NO 5
CHANEL – CHANEL NO 5 features dynamic, crisp top notes of lemon, mandarin, and orange that reveal lightheartedness and transparency. The emblematic heart of the bouquet unfolds with rose, jasmine, and a new fraction of ylang ylang, more modern than ever. Created by Earnest Beaux, No.5 was the first perfume ever created using such a large quantity of aldehydes, which give the fragrance its sparkle. Legend has it that Beaux presented Chanel with ten fragrances to choose from. (Or so the story goes…) Chanel chose perfume number five, hence the name.
The composition of perfumes is a fascinating study. Every fragrance contains a blend of top notes, middle notes, and base notes. The top notes hit almost immediately after applying a perfume, but they last mere moments. Middle notes replace the top notes, staying about one hour after application. Following the fade of the middle notes, the base notes take over. These heady scents will last for several hours, and they generally make the most memorable impression.
