Mod Vanilla is, essentially, a very musky, somewhat more of a powdery, sweet and clean vanilla and kind of thin and synthetic vanilla, with a plum note in the background that influences the scent too at times in a way that’s hard for me to pinpoint.

With time, the plum note does become more subdued, although all that is left at that point is a musky, vanilla skin-scent.

This smells creamy but the musk and the plum keep this from being too sweet! The musk also gives this depth! It’s a really addictive fragrance!!

The best vanilla spring/summer scent. When you first spray it it smells very alcohol-ish, but once it dries down it’s such an amazing scent. Vanilla perfumes usually remind me a lot of cold/cozy weather, but this one is amazing for warmer weather!

This is very much a Tobacco fragrance, but that Tea note is in the background of the fragrance when you smell it up close and it makes it SO surprisingly REFRESHING!! The scent is dominated by an incredibly smooth, well-rounded cardamom which is both warming and alluring.

From here I get a strong dose of spicy cinnamon and a kick of black pepper before the real stars begin to shine. A dry, slightly ashy tobacco is complimented gorgeously by a woody, earthy base of cedar and patchouli. This is then rounded out very well with a seductively sweet vanilla.

Overall this scent is very enjoyable to wear, its sweet tobacco and warm spices made with brilliant quality as always from Penhaligon’s. In the air, it’s pure sultry sexy refined tobacco and cardamom and something that feels slightly “Green”….making it the perfect candidate for this spring weather we’ve been having this week.

I love the sweet opening, then the sweetness simmers down and settles into a mellow salty aquatic watermelon. I think this is a nice change for summer from the sunscreen coconut tropical vibes, or standard fresh citrus type of scents. It’s not too fruity and not too sweet

In the opening, I could detect some berry w/ the bergamot making it pop. The opening is feminine, and fruity, and sweet.

Then as the initial mid fragrance began to develop, I started to detect the salt, and something that was sweet and light, but didn’t scream extreme flower to me. Maybe the ylang-ylang and some of the lily.

As for the salt. I got just enough “salt” to recognize that it was there. And it worked against the sweet, delicate that was also going on – at the same time.

Toward the later mid/initial dry down, I actually smelled what I thought was a nutty nuance in the background.

The meringue becomes noticeable – and it, along with the woody/earthy nuttiness, mixed with the sweet and the salt already going on, is absolutely divine!

In the true dry down – I could and can smell delicious and smooth whipped creamy meringue, with a little earthiness, some yellow floral, and also for me – a little caramel. This fragrance has a lightness to it, but it also has depth and it’s not fleeting.

Opens with aldehydic citruses & spice with some azonic notes (a nice touch), develops with rose, jasmine & patchouli, lands with vanilla, musk, woods, oakmoss. Longevity is forever and silage is perfect at low-moderate.
Instant Crush, is a sugary vanilla citrus floral that’s an easy winner for those that like vanilla but want to keep it fresh and light, as well. A medium-bodied vanilla that has the tip-of-the-tongue sugary sweetness initially but that does not remain candied throughout its life. The opening is citrus-laden and zesty, with mixed citruses, saffron, and ginger, but quickly gives way to a more floral heart of rose and jasmine, with a dry down of vanilla, sandalwood, and musk. It’s a solid formula for a versatile player. The vanilla isn’t overwhelming to start despite the mix having a sharp sweetness from the onset, but it becomes a little creamier and more of an overall woody vanilla musk blend in the dry down.

Neroli Portofino has a classic supporting notes that all create a fresh, bright, clean lemony citrus and spice effect. It opens up extremely fresh and soap-like. It’s one thing I love about this fragrance. It smells very refined and natural. I can’t fault it on smell, and if the intention was to smell luxurious then this succeeds at it.

In addition to neroli, there is a light amount of orange, mandarin, lavender. This makes it a fresh-floral fragrance without becoming too complex and muddled (as many floral’s do) or too generic (as fresh fragrances often do). The soapy shrill and loud citrus-like neroli is replaced by a gentle, delicate, natural and smooth neroli.

This is truly unisex, rather than just labeled such, equally acceptable for both men and women to wear. Age is no issue either, as it’s modern enough for any young person to wear with ease, but still sophisticated enough for an older person to wear.

Its clean and fresh but sweet and powdery and lasts a long time. It’s not got a ton of silage but does float around and others definitely smell it when you walk by. It’s lovely. Unique and light and slightly sweet. Not overpowering.

I get a lovely, not too dark Bulgarian rose, with a bunch of violets forming a well-balanced opening. A woodsy undertone, a seamlessly integrated melting oud note penetrates the floral foreground, and in this composition the oud is not brutally-synthetically in-your-face In other word – a well-integrated oud.

The second phase – turns sweeter, based in tonka and a light ambery impression, so this sweeter stage blends in well with the rose and the oud to gradually replace the original notes. The sweetness is well-balanced.

This is sexy, seductive, mesmerizing come hither scent that leaves a trail meant to turn heads. Certainly more for fall, winter, and maybe some cooler spring nights. Very nice.

MAISON FRANCIS KURKDJIAN – BACCARAT ROUGE 540 (Generic Inspired *)

This is a magical fragrance. It’s intoxicating, enveloping, and actually quite “warm” despite having a cold exterior.

BR540 is unique there is depth to this fragrance, but it somehow manages to maintain its airiness. In my honest opinion, it is worth the hype. Try it for yourself because your skin chemistry has an effect on the way it smells, a bit more so than other fragrances, but without a doubt this is fantastic in the Autumn and winter.

Woody and ambery with a nice spicy saffron in the background. Smells like a cotton candy with some woods and resins (fir resin) in the backend of the scent. What makes it quite unique and niche-like is a little metallic tinge to it.
